Client: A Medical Group, Manager of Clinical Operations
Conflict: Feedback from an internal employee satisfaction survey revealed issues and disconnects between the senior management level and staff. The organization is made up of multiple silos furthering communication challenges.
Results: The Russell Consulting Group worked with three managers and their associate director, resulting in a more focused and collaborative team willing to identify and share cross-functional resources. Department managers became more unified and worked less as silos.
Office morale and environment became more positive because of an awareness of each person's responsibilities instigated support rather than complaints from staff. Departments developed a better understanding of what other departments were doing. The self-awareness created better communication that lead to a greater understanding, then to more support, which in turn freed up resources for cross functional use.
Personally:I felt conflict between my goals and values and that of the company and others in it. I learned that conflict can exist and that it is my choice to stay where I am and accept the difference, or to base my decision on the fact that there are things of greater value to consider in my job than my perception of the conflict. This realization of owning the choice and the conflict for me was critical. It was awareness that provided me a self-empowerment tool that then allowed me to focus on the job rather than on the conflict.
I'm a skeptical person when it comes to personal developmentāa lot of management/staff development can feel like the flavor of the day; The Russell Consulting Group approach surprised me with its strength and applicability to any situation and its consistency. The focus is on understanding yourself rather than understanding others and trying to adapt to different types of personalities like so many other programs promote. Russell Consulting is extremely customized because it is based on individuals looking at themselves.
I felt confident enough in the results that I now want to offer these personal development and productivity tools to my staff.
